About this Event
30x30 and Beyond
Interactive National Symposium | 20-21 July | Gadigal Country, Sydney
Every year, we produce a major interactive event dedicated to addressing a priority conservation challenge. We provide an inclusive platform for collaboration between Government, Non-Government, Indigenous Peoples, Academia and Industry. Together, we share knowledge and catalyse informed action for nature.
The 30x30 and Beyond national symposium centred around Australia's achievement of Target 3 of the Global Biodiversity Framework: Conserve 30% of Land, Waters and Seas.
Delegates joined this Interactive National Symposium to:
-
Learn from the experiences of people delivering 30x30 across the country
-
Support and centre Indigenous leadership, knowledge and perspectives
-
Examine and Reimagine the role and purpose of 30x30 in Australia
-
Explore funding sources, mechanisms and solutions
-
Venture beyond the standard values and metrics of measurement
-
Reinforce the importance of culture and collaborative partnerships
-
Workshop tools and frameworks for effective and equitable management
-
Collectively recommend strategies and actions to achieve 30x30 and Beyond
The Interactive Program was designed with input from our Steering Committee, including perspectives from Federal and State Government agencies, NGOs and Indigenous People's Organisations. The schedule included a 2-full-day Symposium and an optional casual dinner.
Note: the preparatory workshop for the 2027 IUCN World Protected Areas Congress and the International Marine Protected Area Congress (IMPAC6) has been changed to a free online webinar.
