Interactive Symposium  |  20-22 July 2026  |  Gadigal Country, Sydney

Every year, we produce a major interactive event dedicated to addressing a priority conservation challenge. We provide an objective platform for collaboration between government, industry and civil society and, together, we catalyse informed action for nature.

Our 2026 national symposium will centre around Australia's achievement of Target 3 of the Global Biodiversity Framework: Conserve 30% of Land, Waters and Seas.

This event will:

  • Include people and organisations contributing to the delivery of 30x30 across the country

  • Support and centre Indigenous leadership, knowledge and perspectives

  • Examine the role and purpose of 30x30 in an Australian context

  • Share funding sources, mechanisms and innovations

  • Explore the realities, challenges and opportunities of protecting nature at scale

  • Venture beyond the standard metrics of measurement

  • Workshop tools and frameworks for effective, holistic management

  • Highlight the importance of culture and collaborative partnerships in achieving 30x30 and Beyond.

The 3-day schedule includes a 2-day Symposium, a casual group dinner, and an optional day 3 workshop for anyone interested in learning about the 2027 IUCN World Protected Areas Congress.

The Program is currently being designed with input from our Steering Committee, incorporating perspectives from Federal and State Government agencies, NGOs and Indigenous People's Organisations.

The Speakers are being approached and will be shared on this site, as they are confirmed.

The Sponsorship Guide is live and we strongly encourage support of Indigenous presenters and attendees.
