What We Do

The IUCN Australian Committee facilitates collaboration and provides a focus for Australian nature conservation organisations to advance the IUCN vision of a just world that values and conserves nature.
We do this by:
-
Harnessing our unique convening power to provide a neutral and innovative platform for collaboration. Together we tackle critical challenges, share knowledge, build capacity, drive policy change, pursue common goals and work towards our shared vision for nature.
-
Partnering with our network to provide expert advice, contributing to the development and implementation of local and global conservation goals, frameworks, policies, and processes.
-
Partnering on projects and initiatives that deliver identified conservation priorities in Australia.
-
Helping to promote and facilitate the implementation of IUCN recommendations, tools and conservation frameworks in Australia.
-
Helping to meet national and global environmental communications goals by raising awareness of the benefits and importance of biodiversity and nature-based solutions.
-
Building and maintaining a strong nature conservation network in Australia.
-
Providing a vital link between IUCN and its Australian members to encourage involvement and collaboration around the network’s global and regional activities, commissions and programs.
