About This Event

The IUCN Conservation Planning Specialist Group (CPSG) has a mission to save threatened species by increasing the effectiveness of conservation efforts worldwide. Supported by over 270 volunteer experts, the CPSG is known for providing beneficial and practical conservation planning advice.


Their proven approach to Species Conservation Planning has been turning the challenge of saving threatened species into success stories for over 40 years. They have accomplished this by:

  • Developing and sharing interdisciplinary science-based tools and methods.

  • Providing culturally sensitive and respectful facilitation for stakeholder-inclusive conservation action planning.

  • Promoting global partnerships and collaborations.

  • Integrating and leveraging the contributions of both in situ and ex situ communities to create cohesive species conservation strategies.

  • Building capacity for species conservation planning worldwide.
