Board Position Vacancy: Treasurer (voluntary)
Overview: The Treasurer of the Australian Committee for IUCN (ACIUCN) is responsible for executive oversight of the financial management of ACIUCN. The Treasurer is appointed by the ACIUCN Board and serves as a voting member of the Board. ACIUCN is a not for profit organisation and the position is voluntary, roles and responsibilities are outlined below:

About ACIUCN:
ACIUCN is a not-for-profit organisation, the membership of which is drawn primarily from Australian-based member organisations of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a globally active, not-for-profit organisation based in Switzerland whose mission is to ‘Influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable’. ACIUCN is governed by its Board, and day-to-day day operations are managed by the Director and any staff.
Responsibilities:

To ensure that ACIUCN fulfills all its regulatory and governance obligations with respect to financial management and reporting.
Role:
The role of Treasurer under the ACIUCN Constitution (Art. 15(11) states:
The Treasurer shall ensure that:
-
all money due to the ACIUCN is collected and received,
-
ensure that all payments authorised by the ACIUCN are made,
-
correct books and accounts are kept showing the financial affairs of the ACIUCN, and
-
financial statements are presented at quarterly Board meetings
Duties
-
To authorise payments on behalf of the Board, where these sit outside the delegation of the `Director,
-
To present a Treasurer’s report to:
-
all meetings of the Board (quarterly),
-
the annual general meeting of ACIUCN members,
-
-
To support the Director in the preparation of budgets and financial reports for submission to the Board and membership of ACIUCN,
-
To attend meetings of the Board (via phone conference or in person as required), and
-
Other tasks as required in support of the sound financial administration of ACIUCN.
Experience:
-
Financial management/accounting knowledge and experience, particularly as applied to not-for-profit organisations and/or small businesses.
Preferred:
-
An understanding of the regulatory environment associated with not-for-profit organisations.

An understanding of not-for profit sector and/or broader financial market
